Got an old school cj7 build at the shop. Customer knows it has a ton of mods but not the details exactly right.

A quick glance
1-6 with efi customer says 4.2 stroked 4.6. Meh looks like 4.0 block and efi to me.
Nv4500 meh could be it’s friggin huge and a five speed but has a advance adapter kit to run a mechanical linkage
Dana 300 yep
Customer thinks scout Dana 44
I think maybe no

I almost positive this was built almost entirely out of the 1996 quadratrac jeep catalog lol

A Jeep stroker is a 4.0 block with a 4.2 crank so it will look like a 4.0 from the outside. I’m not much help on the axles though

If somebody actually paid money to convert a NV4500 to a mechanical throwout then I'd suspect every other choice they made on the build.

As to that being a Scout axle, well, it might be. That is definitely not the knuckles or steering arrangement that the Scout uses, however it might be the housing just based on rough proportions and how the spring perch is part of the center section.

Is it the Mopar EFI kit, or do they have something else scabbed on it?

The front springs have been outboarded to match the spring perches as well. The rear axle is offset slightly to the passenger side as well.

Interesting. That looks like it is the actual MOPAR EFI kit, and that was a ton of money if so.

However, I bet that's a 4.0 unless they really worked to make a 4.2 look like a 4.0. The build stamps are on a flat surface above the oil filter, at the seam of the block and the head.

Also, that axle should have BOM number on it if you really want to know.

Might be waggy 44's that have been narrowed to fit the CJ.
They came in 5 or 6 bolt and various widths and configurations.

I've worked on a couple yj's that were built in the late 90's - early 2000's that both had the same aftermarket axles with no tags on them, possibly quadratrac junk. but basically they had used high pinion Ford Dana 44 centers front and rear with jeep dana 30 front outers and non c-clip jeep rear outers of some sort.

Lots of oddball junk got scabbed together back then.

Yeah when It comes back in for more work I take closer look at the axles. Next up a complete rewrire
