Is there anything useful to do with old propane tanks?

Post by Scott Cee AKA 2drx4 »

I've got a couple old GM squarebody side mount propane tanks. About 16" around and 42" long I think. Nobody wants them. Is there anything useful you can make out of them? I'm going to take them to the dump otherwise, but just hate to throw something out that might be useful.

I just got a load of oxy and acetylenen tanks that were in a garage that burned.

I'm making bells, like BBBOOOONNNNNNGGGGG temple bells.

This guy has them listed for 5 grand. I doubt mine will bring that

Just let them sit and rust out back. You'll never know when you find yourself wanting a 16" or so diameter section of steel tube.

Neighbor of mine used them for making air compressor tanks on his service truck

That's not a bad idea. If I had a service truck.

I thought about making bells, but I'm not sure why I would... other option would be to dress one up to look like a rocket or a bomb, write "ACME" on the side, and then stick it in my yard. You know, Roadrunner cartoon type thing. :ideas:

painted up like disney characters is kind of fun.

somebody made a giant minion out of an old several hundred gallon one out here.

they change his clothes from time to time, right now he has a massive mask on
