Green brake fluid
Did the brakes on my 03 GMC Sierra today, and well, the fluid was green. Like green as grass.
Just old fluid that had picked up too much water, or is there something to actually be concerned about? I flushed it a ton but it still has a light green tint to it. Might run another bottle through it tomorrow too, since it still has a less than ideal pedal, although I think it's probably about normal for an older GM hydroboost truck.

Re: Green brake fluid
id say thats just really old fluid but I remember reading something about dot3 fluid breaking down over time and actually starting to corrode the inside of the brake lines which is what your seeing there.
most manufacturers recommend a brake fluid flush every two years. but having worked at half a dozen places over the years there was only one dealership that actually had the proper machine to do the job.

Re: Green brake fluid
I've been meaning to buy one of those pressure bleeder things for years. I just forget every time and then go "I'll buy it next time I need to do brakes."
Re: Green brake fluid
Can’t say I have ever seen green... usually just super dark and cloudy. I should really bleed the Dakota fully when I do all my brakes in the next week or two, probably never been done.
You have had good luck with that bleeder Pointsnorth?

Re: Green brake fluid
there is smaller kits for a specific type of master but I wanted the option to have it work on all types so I went with the bigger kit. The nice part is it easily holds several litres of brake fluid and once you pump it up to about 5psi you can leave it and deal with line bleeding and bleed the whole system off that single charge

I have that bleeder also. I had poor results with the J-hooks and chain set-up. Use a large C-clamp now and no problems.

Re: Green brake fluid
you have to watch your pressures anything over 8psi will generally leak with the j-hooks and chains ive found
