It ain’t much but trying to do a little on the days I can. Yesterday reinstalled my bed rails to hold the tent. I removed them to modify them so I can clamp the tonneau cover more securely. Almost screwed it up as I didn’t measure how far I could extend the clamps and they are right at the very end but it works. Got the tent back on for the summer and started on my storage unit. The narrow side will be a drawer for my “kitchen”. Stove , dishes, basic pantry. The other side I’ll cut most of the top open so it’ll be a full height “drawer” so it can fit my cooler or whatever, even getting groceries I can just slide that side out instead of using my snow brush to fish stuff out of the bed since I can only partially open the rear part of my cover.

It’s rough but being short on time and skill is no surprise. If I like it, I can see redoing it a bit better. I’ll finish it probably in the winter. I’ll have some highway trips and stuff coming up so I’ll need my kitchen in it and more functional so I rushed it , in my spare evening. My daughter helped a fair bit and screwed most of it together

Looks good from here. Slap some paint or stain on it and you'll fool anyone on it not being professional.

Kinda dumb luck but the piece I cut out of the top on one side perfectly fit the top of the closed in side so I used the left over plastic for sliders and lock was on my side because I found a couple 3 foot pieces of 3/4x2 aluminum angle, that I used for sliders and I had some ripped strips to stiffen it up from the cut off stuff in the drawers. Definitely looks like I made it from scrap but I’m reasonably happy with its function.

Not much of an update as I’m tired and burnt out. But actually using this truck for its intended purpose. The storage box works great. The tent is too small and I don’t really like the rtt that much, especially in the rain. Not sure what to do going forward. That being said I took this thing snow wheeling and it very much dominated. Couple climbs I was the only one to get up, and/or put high marks that no one could come close to. The ko2’s really liked that spring snow. I was at 4psi front 5rear and spun the rims inside the tires so I might be pulling the weights off the rims on my trip home. It’s interesting watching the wheelbase come into play. On steep climbs the longer wheel base seems to keep traction better, probably keeping more weight on the front tires and it can get the front tires clear of obstruction before the rear tires work. In spots on the flat there were a bunch of much more capable fully locked rigs short wheelbase rigs that could out do me, but once I got pointed up they couldn’t touch me. If I had a front locker I could have went just a about anywhere.

Did a big trip up through the Telkwa pass and up the Nisga highway lava beds and then cut over to the Kispiox valley with my daughter and 2 pups. This setup is going to be removed and some of it or all of it is going. Solo is not bad, it wheels great, but there’s a complete lack of useable space. The tent is to small entirely and I’m still not sure I like the rooftop tent. The whole package takes longer to setup and take down than I’d like, compounded by not having very good space usage and no space tall enough for a water jug or most fridges/coolers. The kitchen works well and the slider proof of concept is decent.

My daughter drove this bottom to top of this summit, trapping lookout or something like that on the far side of the pass. She didn’t like the shelf road and steep sections of the pass itself so I drove ask if that. But nailed this section. 12yrs old and loves the gladiator. But finally admitting that it’s a bit small for touring

Apparently there’s a reason jeeps plastic bumper weighs over 50 pounds. There’s something in it. Crushed a small deer today at 60km/h

Yeah, I believe they're full of that honeycomb pattern plastic stuff. I've seen them take quite a bit of abuse.

Do they lend themselves well to being flipped over and poured full of concrete like the old 90s/00s Ford car honeycomb bumpers?

Well the dam thing left me stranded At the airport at 11pm at night. Flew out for a day and half and came back to a dead rig. Wound up getting a buddy to come and boost me. Nothing left on, no reason. Figured it was the aux battery as it’s common but the battery and charging system on these is far more complicated than it needs to be. Got a battery tester from work and the aux battery passed the first test but each Subsequent test it got worse and worse. The main battery passed but I decided to swap both out with Canadian tire agm ones and hopefully get a few more years of trouble free driving.

And after sitting 5-6 days I have both new batteries are dead. So here we go with the headaches. I’m not sure what’s going on. Never had issues before but something is drawing when it’s shut off. Might have to try the dealership for this one.

I was going to, but it had a full on $h!t fit trying to boost it. Took me nearly 2 days to get it started up. I’m almost of warranty. So I took it into the dealer hoping they’ll cover some of it. But it’ll be 2-3 weeks more than likely. And I’m not confident in them. Might wind up costing me

Dealer warrantied it. Said my new auxiliary battery died. Seems weird to be, but it’s in the realm of possibilities. I figured something had crapped on the aux side of things. They tested all my circuits and couldn’t find any draws or things shorting out. So the battery voltage is supposed to float between 12.9 and 14.4 ish volts under normal usage. When I picked it up, it ran at 14.5 volts for 3 hours straight which tells me it was charging pretty hard . This morning I hit the command start as soon as I woke up out of sheer curiosity and it started, then driving to work the voltage was floating. Reading said that it can take up to 5 days for the sensor to recalibrate or learn the new battery so maybe it’s ok. That being said I stopped at Canadian tire on my way home and bought a decent booster pack and immediately charged it.
