The old GMC finally let all its juices out on me, so I broke down and bought something that's slightly better. Typical to my fashion, it is still a massive steaming pile.

2015 2500HD, just the gas 6.0L because I can't afford dropping $15k on engine repairs every second year. It's obviously an ex-fleet truck, and it has seen lots of gravel. It came complete with a backup beeper (which they were nice enough to put on a switch, at least) and a LED blinky light for the top. It looks nicer in the pictures than in person.

I do want to make it look nicer, or at least not 100% like it's still at the mine. So I will be doing a few things. Not a real build though.

First thing I did was take the stupid blinky light off. I was just going to trash it and the wiring, but I realized I could do something slightly more useful with the bracket and wiring for it. I dug around in my junk at home and found a LED light that I bought for something. I cut down the old light bracket, flipped it around, and mounted the LED light behind the headache rack.

I switched some of the wiring around so the relay for the beeper was used instead of running the power right through the switch. Bit of a score that they had everything in there so I didn't even have to crimp anything.

The thing is nice and bright.

I figure with it mounted there I'm less likely to get any crap for it from the CVSEs. It should be nice for hooking up trailers/loading/unloading at night. Or it will just be way too bright and I'll hate it. Whatever, it only cost me some time to do this.

I figured I'd bust the ol' piggybank and get some new wheels and tires for it. 90% of the aftermarket wheels that fit these trucks are straight brodozer, and I was just going to find a set of stock aluminum wheels, but for what people wanted for stock wheels that weren't destroyed it wound up being cheaper to get Snowracer to hook me up with some Envys. They're the FFT-8 in the bronze colour, and the tires are the Motomaster X-trails from Crappy Tire that were on sale for 25% off. We'll see how this round of tires from them does, but the last set I had were totally fine and dirt cheap.

I think it's starting to look better. I have some fender flares for it too, but I need to do some rust abatement first. And there's a door sill that I need to do a weld repair on too. I'll probably slop some bedliner on in places to hide everything for the "my truck is a rusted out POS but I've put lipstick over it" look that most of the GMs have once they're 10 years old.

I think the only real weakness to them is the AFM, or whatever they call their cylinder deactivation feature. Which can be deleted, but I'll probably leave it alone for now.

Yeah, it can cause a bunch of damage if it goes really wrong. The whole kit is new lifters and other stuff, but you can just turn it off with a tuner. I need to do some research into it and see what the best route is.
