Found my power steering leak. Thought it was a hose but the fitting was cracked. As soon as I touched it, it broke off

can see both inner fenders now, lots of room for cutting activities and adding back some uptravel

Those stupid plastic reservoirs do that, and unfortunately I've never really had any luck putting a bulkhead fitting in place of the stock fitting to fix it.

well Steve talked me into trying to repair it. Removed the reservoir and drilled then tapped where the fitting was, used jb weld as thread sealant and going to give it a try, or I’ll replace it again.

Also mounted the cooler, after screwing it up a couple times. Doesn’t look that tight but it barely fits. And won’t fit square to anything.

Since I had it this far apart, couldn’t help myself. Got fairly serious on the cutting. Now I’ll pull the bumpstops and flex test it and see if I can push it right up to the point my track bar, diff cover, and pitman arm collide. I’m trying to get more uptravel and see if 38’s are even a possibility. They might not fit on the firewall side. The stuff I filled in was janky, even for me, it was the first welds I put on this thing. I’m planning on putting my new fenders on, leaving more sheetmetal flare but way opening up the wheel well.

Nice job cutting that stupid sheetmetal from the front of the fender, no going back now.

And I'm curious if the JB will hold up on that fitting.

Just gettin rowdy with the zippy wheel!! I love that you have the fender clearance machine just sitting on the tire That fitting mod will hold up good, I feel its better than stock

Well I screwed up cutting. I actually missed cutting all of my battery tray mounts off. So I had to move my Jeep and my battery sits right above the hole in the passenger fender just fine, holding most of the wires up. Might not relocate it to the back just yet as it’s a bunch of work and I knocked part of my retaining wall down trying to flex test my Jeep and created a project I didn’t want to do

Nowhere else you can stuff the battery under the hood to avoid the full relocation?


Years ago I fucked up a hand railing at my parents house flex testing on it. My dad still brings it up every now and then.

I thought I cut the mounts off. But I “accidentally” left the mounts in place for the battery. It’s actually cleaning up pretty well. When I get a chance I’ll take some pics. I’m going to pull it out and see if I can route the wiring harness that goes under it to over it.

Well I hurt my shoulder at work a while back and although I managed to keep working I couldn’t work on this thing much, well now the prospect of selling my house has come up and my garage needs to be cleaned up so my Jeep needs to get put back together. So since I had nothing much holding my headlight buckets in place, today I took a swing at that. Really happy as the band iron brackets I made were really simple with one bend and a couple twists up line the angles up and now the plastic actually clips into place tight without any screws. I added two self tapping screws in key locations to help me build the bracket. It’s really secure. Now to fill the holes in the sheetmetal

I’m not happy with the bumper and front fenders at all but I needed it back together and looking streetable. The inner fenders are okay enough. Cut way more of the front plastic and fenders up front and had a hell of a time attaching the bumper plastic as I cut everything off. But I drilled into my fairlead bracket and bent some of the fender. I’d like to say after my housing situation settles it’s getting the new front fenders and the plastic bumper cover will bite the garbage pile and get a little metal fabbed in to sort of mimic it but with a removable high clearance option, with something to protect the headlights from trees

Kinda feels like this step went like a sema build. Wound up out of time, bunch of crappy welds, but it looks okay at a distance, really feel like this time I had the skills to do better though.

Both rigs loaded up to the roof with my shop tools and stuff headed north. Couple friends came down and moved them for me. Now just for the stuff inside the house at the end of the month
