will probably have to add to the back if i want any storage as most of whats there now will get used up with the fuel cell an rad. plan on having the rad low behind the seats so i can see out the back of the buggy, with doing that it takes up a fair bit of room that i had originally thought of using for storage.pointsnorth wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:11 am i see your aiming for a 118-120 wheel base. Are you planning adding too the rear frame any storage etc or too early in the build for that?

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
just took the truck in for scrap today on my lunch. figured id add this as it weighed in a 1540 for the gutted shell, so no reason the buggy shouldnt be 1000 pounds lighter then the truck was.

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
that is a lot smaller buggy so not surprised its that light. Brad in Quesnel with the blue TMR buggy says his weights in around 4400-4500 pounds, but hes aluminum LS ect. im aiming for the 5000-5500 pounds ready to wheel, and that should be about 1000 pounds lighter then the truck was

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
id think you would be lighter then that as i think the skinny chicken is around that wieght with a full body on it with comparable drive train

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
like said id be happy under 5500. if the blue buggy is the same set up and 4400 just my motor alone is 400-500 pounds heavier, and ive seen his buggy and has a smaller fuel cell and almost no tools or recovery gear. im going to add a fair bit of weight with all that crap and maybe even the spare 39 on the back as well.pointsnorth wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:39 am id think you would be lighter then that as i think the skinny chicken is around that wieght with a full body on it with comparable drive train

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
Was 5370 full fuel last time I weighted it before winter challenge last year. When I first weight it, it came in at 4980 but that was before beadlocks, skid plate and bedsides, not sure how much fuel I had then.pointsnorth wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:39 am id think you would be lighter then that as i think the skinny chicken is around that wieght with a full body on it with comparable drive train

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
as tempting as 1 link is i dont think its the best option for this build
ive spent a fair bit of time going back and forth on the idea of trailing arms. the plan is rear 4 link with coil overs and bypasses mounted on the diff as its easy and works and will have more then enough travel for the wheeling we do

Re: The FSU trail buggy build
got the trans mount built, make the bushing 4" wide so same width as the stock trans mount i was running before
will add a gusset to the tabs as feel like they could bend being so tall
stripped the front diff of all the extra crap i added to it that will no longer be needing
