Can't access the carriage bolts at all because they slide into the cleat. What I'm doing is working just takes time and Im complaining like a little whinny bitch :pimp:

Got the one track totally disassembled, and ready to do weld repairs on the cleats. Also will have to replace the inner track belt as its wasted.

With the tracks off I went to work to replace the drive sprockets, and inspect the drive hub bearings

Pretty simple setup. Drive flange with a full floater axle

The drive sprockets get sandwitched between the 2

It's a racecar now that you're replacing the black rubber bits with red rubber bits. :lmao:

Despite lack of updates I have been working on this thing. Lots of small items completed. I plan on running EFI and it needs a return line so tackled that. Holed sawed some aluminum and cleaned it up on the turny machine.

And brought the ghetto. Drilled some holes and added some random fittings
Image

Then plowed a hole in the tank and boom, return line.

After all that I get a notification that my EFI kit is again back ordered until Feb 2...I ordered it at the beginning of November :headbang:
So slight change of plans. I will run the carb for this season and swap over this summer or when I receive the kit. Also I was planning on putting the bench seat in, but after some mock up and looking at things its just too close to the foot controls to be comfortable driving at my height, so will use the factory seat with 2 side seats.

I also upgraded the ignition from points to electronic via a pertronix kit. I was kinda dreading doing it but was actually really easy swap. Did the coil also. I replaced the main coil wire with a new MSD unit but could not make up new wires as they were intended for an HEI distributor that has male terminals, no biggie, they were just spare wires I had from my Big Block.

How are you sealing that return line plate to the tank? Form-a-gasket? Or did you put an oring groove in it or something else swanky? Or fuck it tighten it?

Couple pics
Drive sprockets installed with all new fastners. These were actually pretty miserable to install, as the plate squeezes the sprocket it miss aligns the holes

All lines cleaned up and new installed, tank back in

So got the one track all apart and cleaned up the cleats. My cleats are really worn, hopefully this will get me a few years before I have to get new ones. This is what I’m working with. I will weld the splits closed and flip them on the track.

Cleaned them all up and spool gun pooped some welds on there. On the bright side, I can only get better from hereImage

Also had to make a new inner belt section. Got some scrap from work and plowed a couple hundred holes in it. My drill was lovin it.

And started assembling what I could as I cleaned out the store of 5/16 carriage bolts and nylocks. Was only able to get about 2/3s of the track completed. More should show up Friday.
