Nice! Glad you were able to get it out for a run. Hopefully you can find the time to finish the rest.

Decided the tackle the steering. Wanna fo baldy this weekend and couldnt get a p/s cooler in time but want to change the pump anyways. I went with an 05 6.0 gm with hydroboost $100 for brand new pump. The orifice is already drilled to 5/32 and it hs a different flow piston

The flow piston is the tall one with tons of shims super weird i pulled 4 shims out and i think this was a big mistake

Shot of what i did to add capacity. Used 1.5" i.d. feed line, i welded the top of another resevoir to a barb fitting so i can retain a normal cap with dipstick

So it worked great for 10 minutes im running amsoil tractor hydraulic trans oil 5-30. Steering was on point seemed to react as fast as i expected it to. I noticed some metal in the oil i think the old pump comitted suicide and contaminatrd the system i tried to flush it out best i could. I ran it lock to lock and as far as i can tell it overpressured and blew the front seal out literally pushed the shaft bushing through the seal. I bought a reman pump and will install tomorrow hopefully with better results.

Interesting situation with the shims there. It's hard to say how much of a pressure increase that would create, but apparently it was a lot. :eeks:

Seen videos of you wheeling baldy this weekend didn’t seem to be having any issues with steering so I’m assuming it’s working.

If you are having issues go junkyard cruising for one of these

It’s off a G body van if your lucky snag the remote mounted resi as well or build your own and have all the volume you need

Update took out both driveshafts on baldy but steering was great just getting hot with no cooler. Now have mufflers a p/s cooler and a back window! Im really hoping the flange on the headers clears the tires...

Never done a back window turns out weedwacker nylon rope works good.

Hmm, that's a great idea with the nylon weedeater string. Normally I use rope with baby powder on it for that style of seal, but I bet that would be better.
