at ford we used a whole bottle of spray nine top it up with water and run it up to operating temp as per the ford service manual for the dreaded 6.0 litre oil cooler leak. worked really good

Yeah, alcohol helps to allow you to relax and make much more fluid motions while spraying. :lmao:

And thats the colour I picked out of the lordco paint book by looking at a 1” square of paint under fluorescent light and choosing the one with the least awesome name. I forget what the code is actually called ... it might have just been a number... so we’ll just call it Red October. I’m pretty happy with it so far and I think Sean Connery would approve.

Also is there a cheap and easy trick to pouring paint from a gallon paint can without making a huge mess? .....I made a huge mess. I know there are fancy lids that paint shops have with built in stirring paddles and all that but I’m not buying one of those for just one paint job.

Homodepot has little plastic clip on funnel things for like 99 cents. They actually work okay. They sell lids that have a funnel in them too, but I don't really like them, I think they're a similar price though.

I’ll try one of those. The worst part was the first pour from a full can. I think I spilled more paint than I actually got in the mixing cup.

thanks man, its in decent shape and it runs pretty good but its got all the old bike problems. Swingarm linkage bearings have turned to brown dust, it needs sprockets and a chain and the suspension is super soft with no rebound control so it rides like a bouncy castle if I try to push it too hard. Plus its made for someone a lot shorter than me so I need to fab up some lower brackets for the footpegs. There are lots of places in the states that make them but they look pretty easy to fab up for next to nothing.

Right on, does it have a lowering link on it? nice thing with the DR650 is they have been the same for years so they make lots of parts for them. If your doing the chain wheels already you should drop a tooth on the front sprocket, if it hasn't been done already. My buddy just swapped in a Electron carb and full exhaust on his 650 and it RIPS now.

no lowering link , as far as i can tell its stock height. I want to do the exhaust one day and put a better carb on it but thats going to be further down the road after all the worn out stuff is fixed. I was planning to go down to a 14 tooth on the front sprocket , its got a 15 /43 now and the gearing is a bit tall. It feels like it needs a gear between 2nd and 3rd.
