Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Post by pointsnorth »

Didn’t get much done on it this week shop is busy which cuts into my time. Between delivering stuff for customers with my trailer I was able to swing by the home shop and grab the last of my supply of crusty tubing that I want to use up.

Then I decided to kill a couple hole saws

Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Post by pointsnorth »

Picked up awhile back about 70ish feet of 1 3/4 dom from a welding shop in chetwynd that a buddy had ordered and paid for but never picked up. had been on a steel rack in the lean too for at least ten years so it had some light surface rust on it. ended up getting it super cheap. five minutes with a rolock and shes minty

This fuel cell I actually brought in for a customers build but it is the fuel capacity I would like on my rig. I doubt I will end up with this big of a cell as the plan is to have the fuel cell behind the axle at this time.

pickup is right in one of the rear corners as its a circle track tank from summit

that tank itself was pretty cheap coming in just short of 10 bucks a gallon to my door

I built this section with the plastic ibex buggy fuel cell in mind. It’s holds 17 gallons and accepts a stock gm truck in tank fuel pump. That being said I know a guy that’s pretty handy at welding Aluminum and could easily weld me up a bigger tank that would easily bolt up the ibex pump bulkhead.

Mocked up my accessories today put a belt on it without actually finishing the adjuster. Just got a 15mm socket jammed in there

Didn’t like the belt contact on the first setup. This way has much more belt contact but I’ll have to either flip the intake or add another idler

I’ve chopped up my stock bracket a bunch but in this photo I stole you can see all the webbing behind the bracket I already have. Not really wanting to start hacking that.
Actually the added bonus of flipping the intake I may be able to run a forward mount rad after all

Those belt runs are pretty long, an idler between the tensioner and the alternator would be a good idea as it is. I think the tensioner will want to chatter otherwise and may throw the belt.
