How to build and kill a trail truck
figured id add a quick build thread for my pos rig
started as a $400 shit box that turned into a pretty good trail rig. then i got little crazy like normal and wanted to try racing it and well its pretty smashed up and not much longer for the world as have already started on its replacement
after a little cutting and welding it was a pretty cool truck that i actually liked and was built pretty cheap
found out that $400 truck are not ment to last and the motor gave up the battle and this is where i got crazy. got rid of the small block and did a 429 efi swap but also cut the frame off and built a new one

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
doing more trial truck stuff and starting to show its body damage
around this time it started to get the go fast parts and was beating on it harder and looking to start racing it
3" bypasses and deaver springs
3" coil overs
then this happened

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
little ruff after the flop
but the weekend after it was back to racing and took even more of a beating
got some race shoes and new body panels
back to trail riding
but new body panels did not like my blind ass driving

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
so that pretty much brings the truck up to date as its still sitting on the trailer broken and waiting on some love. but like i said ive already started on the replacement for the truck as have a buggy chassis sitting in the shop waiting to be built. even with that im not quite ready to kill the truck as feel like it has a few more beat downs left in its life so will update this as i go and then start a new build for the buggy

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
Hopefully you get it rolling and keep it rolling along as the other gets built. I’m finding my minivan keeps slowly draining resources from my next build though. Now there isn’t much left

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
I have enough parts to get the buggy about 50% done before i have to start robbing the good parts off the truck. so with that and just doing life stuff the truck will get a few more trial rides out of it before its timeScoobienorth wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:49 am Hopefully you get it rolling and keep it rolling along as the other gets built. Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
dont mind the current state but hate the no fender look
probably. im on the fence about taking the truck out and wheeling it more or pulling it apart and getting the buggy done as fast as i can

Careful not to just repeat what happened last time. Dismantle wheeler, start buggy, realize it will take too long, buy cheap truck and proceed to pour everything into it.

Re: How to build and kill a trail truck
figured it was time to fix the truck after insanity fab, turns out i did little more damage then i thought. soon as i started to take the brake caliper off i felt the knuckle move, so pulled the knuckle off and seen that i blew the lower bearing and beat the inner C to shit. was pretty set on cutting the C off and replacing it as the damage was bad enough that it messed up where the bearing presses in. after sleeping on it i figured id try and fix it as cant really make it worse trying. as of right now i think i got it so that i can get a bearing race back in and have welded the C back up, wont really know till the new parts show up and can try putting it back together
