so for a toyota application psc has the 2.25x6 ram but its not that easy to get a decent deal on one.
I can get a 2.5x8 ram for a decent deal and limit the stroke but im wondering if the 2.5 dia is going to be a issue

Is the rod the same size? Assuming a 1" rod then you're looking at 30% more area on the piston, which means you're going to need 30% more flow to maintain the same speed.

The six inch is a 1.125 rod in a 2.25 ram and the eight inch is a 1.5 rod in a 2.5 inch ram.

So it really shouldn’t make a difference marginal at best? Or is that the beers talking lol

I'd have to do the math again but I think that wont be much different for area/volume given those dimensions. The main thing is you're going to be getting a lot stronger rod out of it. I'd go with the bigger one and not look back.

Yeah that’s how I’m looking at it right now. It’s a 25 dollar difference. I’m going to measure things up as far as packaging. I’ve got a ton of room compared to the standard Toyota mini truck axles.

I’m using the factory landcruiser fj60 steering arms and going to add in additional bracing. I’ve got the knuckles flipped as well because of the front range kit. That means the factory brake mounts are in the front.

I'm running 3/4 right now but making it so I can step up to 7/8 in future if needed

you seen what happens when you clip a tree hard with a 3/4 joint

your rig will be light and you are running smaller tires so should have no issues with 3/4 but for the extra few bucks the 7/8 will be peace of mind

nope just baby joints and been running them for while no with zero issues. already have a box from TMR with new 7/8 joints, just waiting on the box from EMF to show up so i can really upgrade

Was the joint that failed a ching chong heimy heim or an actual quality cromo? I feel like 7/8 is rockbouncer shit. Ive beat on my truck pretty hard over the years and still on the original steering joints
