Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?
Got the frame side of my upper link finally fabbed up it just been secured with a temp bracket. But with building the coilovers mount next on my list I figured I should get on that
On a side note I might be raising the drivetrain as well.

Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Grabbed some hydraulic tubing from my local steel supplier that had a 1/2 id. Planning on building some thing to take the place of my coilovers while most of the welding takes place. It will also serve as a way to locate the upper coilovers mounts.

Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

So it’s been forever since I’ve had to use my own tubing notcher. Always seemed someone has always been willing to let me abuse theirs lol. Only took like twenty minutes to find it. First notch I remembered how thundered this thing is. The bearings are all loose as you see the bearing falling out in the pic. I have now idea when I lost the spacer for the arbor either.

I think PA sells a notcher for pretty cheap if you can't find the stuff to fix that one... Personally I've never had one, but it's on the list for if I ever start bending tube again.

Finally got this thing so it’s off the jack stands and a little more mobile which will make it easier to work on I hope

Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Installed the factory crossbar/steering wheel mount and then propped that up with some 1 inch square tube for now.
I can’t really design a clean way to tie the cab into my cage that wouldn’t be super labour intensive with my existing tools. Might be something I farm out to somebody with a plasma table

Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Originally I had hung the tcase pretty low as I didn’t want to chop the floor up more than I had too. But now that it’s pretty close to right height now and the fact all the floor is gone I’m going to be tucking that to near flush with the frame. I may even lift the motor up higher
Currently the rear tcase output is only a half an inch higher then the rear axle Center line

Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?

Grabbed a half door shell that I had hanging on the wall to get some more motivation. Dammit now I’m distracted with building beer holders in half doors lol

Was only able to get a few hours on it this weekend with family up visiting etc. Changed up the rear suspension a bit and stretched the wheel base

Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?
this is with flipping the 4runner springs and then setting it at the rear most hole on my triple drilled perches. the springs give me about 3 inches of stretch and the perch gives me about two inches more. i might move the axle forward a bit as its getting to be really friendly with the crossmember

Re: Samurai Buggy build-third times the charm right?
with the first set up the rear axle was pretty close to the back of the cab which is pretty much bang on stock location . and the factory bedsides are are 5 feet long so the rear over hang wasnt that bad with 39.5 tires . but then add in the larger rear mounted fuel cell plus spare mount out there and the rear bumper there was a getting to be a fair amount of junk hanging out there.
