Just another samurai project

Have had this thing just over a year without even ordering any parts for it. I remedied that last week by ordering a Toyota axle swap kit for it

so bought a 8.4 tundra diff today with the idea of making a offset rear diff out of it.

so quick specs

tundra 8.4 inch
wms 66.5
30 spline
uses same carrier bearings as a minitruck diff

mini truck 8 inch
wms 55
30 spline
uses same carrier bearings as tundra diff

going with the fact toyota is famous for not changing something if it works. Could I chopped the passenger side down to install a mini truck axle shaft and narrow it down too say a 58 ish width

My other thought is could i make a short shaft off of a landcruiser work by swapping the bearing retainer ?

Sky off-road used to do something similar with early ifs housings and moser would cut the passenger side axle shaft if using just a non ifs passenger side axle shaft wasn’t enough offset

Yes that would work.
8", 8.4" and 9.5 shafts are all the same splines. Just find a shaft that's the right length and go for it.
Also the same as Ford Dana 60 rear shafts...
