Studs (threaded fasteners)

I need some 7/16 UNC or UNF studs, could even be UNF on one end and UNC on the other. 2" or so long, with one end being threaded only 3/4" or so and a small shoulder between. Grade 8 or equivalent (assuming studs are graded the same?).

Who/where to get them?

I bought some Dorman ones that were listed as for an exhaust manifold, and they're a super weird clearanced thread and don't appear to be graded. The description on Amazon was misleading, let's just say.

This sort of thing, if I'm being unclear. That's the Dorman one, which actually is M10x1.5, but I've decided now to drill out the inserts and tap them to 7/16 (there's lots of meat to do this).

Do they have to be cylindrical the whole way or is a hex in the middle fine? 7/16 rocker arm studs would be my go to. Even the cheap ones are grade 8 or better.

The clearance thread on the exhaust stud is space for debris when you thread it into a rusted out manifold full of crap.

Rocker arm studs is a good idea. I'll see what I can find. There's definitely lots of sets of them available.
