Has anyone heard if Eaton plans to switch all their E-Lockers to the newer "direct acting" design they use in the D60 and D70 versions?

The older design is crap because it unlocks and then locks every time you change direction, so if you are rocking in the snow or mud it will literally tear itself apart as it will engage with wheel speed every time you do that.

It's just a curiosity question.

Well, it's pretty unclear to me. So I sent in a support ticket to Eaton.

Let's see if they're interested in answering.

Eaton actually is pretty quick to respond. No, they haven't updated the D44 locker, it uses a ramp and pin setup and unlocks on directional change. It didn't sound like there is any plans to update it, or at least that they were willing to share. I'm not sure why because that's a bad business move, since the reputation of their Elocker is basically trash, although there seems to be at least a few people running the 60/70 versions in extremely abusive environments with no problems.

having worked on enough factory e lockers in the past I personally would never run one in my vehicles. on the other hand im not a fan of the air operated either. seems like everytime there is a trail plug its the guy with the air lockers that worked last time he was out.
