My old man's tin top has been getting a little much needed and deserved love.
Been working on a gear swap so the tired old 1.3 doesnt have to work as hard.

Re: The old man's Sami
The soup can pin retainer really cracked me up. I wanna know who figured out a soup can would slide on there, and what brought that to his attention.
Dad also had me machine off the first thread of the side gear preload adjuster nut give us some extra adjustment, rather than tracking down shims. I'll take more pictures when we do the rear over the next couple nights.

Re: The old man's Sami
Update is it's been way too cold to work on it and I did not take pictures like I said I would. It turned into a busy week leading up to our trip and I didn't have time for pictures. There was a lot more wrong with it than we thought...its almost like it gets abused any time we take it anywhere.
It will need to come back into the shop as it still has no rear brakes or rear wheel bearings. Somehow other than tearing a hole in a sidewall, it survived our hunting trip without incident.
5.13 gears brought it to life again. Overdrive is actually usable for getting to and from wheeling spots.
