The points of view here definitely gave me something to think about and having a chance to get some seat time in a jlu sport on 35’s and 2” lift and also got to spend all of last Sunday in steves jk rubicon on 35’s while he ran the flatty. I really like the 2 door wrangler, would be an easy build for sure. I definitely think I should stay with a quicker build setup. I could do a motor swap or axle/suspension swap but doing all of it would drag out more than I’d want. I still would like to do something a little different though

I’m still not sure I want a trailer queen either. It’s really a pain down here with all the loops. Playing with different gearing in all the rigs, I definitely am calling a doubler a must. One thing I’m not sure on , or why, my wj has more forward traction than the wranglers and most rigs, but less traction backing up. Steves rubi is pretty even forward and backwards, mine is definitely not that way. I’ll not sure if it’s my ghetto triangulated rear suspension, weight balance or my big rear over hang, which has a fair bit of weight in it.

If I was ever going to build a jeep( like when hell freezes over according to the wife) I’d build it like Verne Simmons shrink ray tj on iroks cause their are lightweight going with his build theme and add a turbo

The shrink ray tj was actually for sale for like 7000 trump tokens in Arizona this summer

I’ve really admired that build. There’s a super clean 97 tj 4 banger for sale a couple houses down from me that’s super clean but they want 8 grand for it. I could swap my wj diffs over with the deep gears I haven’t installed yet and my 37’s which would work really well. For me a jk really is the best platform for me as I’ve got so much already for it to get it pretty solidly built already.

Think this is going one of two ways. Reality I have 3 main vehicle needs, a daily to and from work, nice and comfy to drive and must have heat and ac, an overland rig type rig, travel and camp with minor to moderate offroad spots, and a snow wheeler, I really only have budget for two vehicles though so one must cover 2 of those, I really don’t want to daily my snow wheeling rig, it’s just to hard on parts. That being said I either need to keep my wj for wheeling or step up to a 3/4 ton style Supercab with 37’s for camping and 42+ tires for winter wheeling and a daily driver car type thing or keep my wj going and further it and find something better suited to daily driving and camping out of.
