Kinda surprised me a bit, the top kick I saw had a pretty cheesy looking front diff in it for its size. Apparently not that one. They are still pretty oddball and heavy to use though aren’t they?

Should be a high pinion D70.

The new Stupppperduty stuff would be fairly comparable in many ways, but the HP D70s were pretty beef.

Having worked on tearing apart another Dana 70 all I can say is super gay. Nothing about them is easy to take apart

Chop chop
If it was my personal rig there would be two vertical lines about 8inches apart as well

Well the Mitsubishi jeep finally got full blown carnage. Last weekends trip here broke an axle in the Dana 27. Found some damage inside the power lock with a couple missing teeth but didn’t find those parts so it could have been old damage. He’s down to 2.5-3 wheel drive now as the axle shafts is the same 10 spline old Jeep stuff but it’s a couple inches wide so the cj-2 through early cj-5 stuff won’t engage the carrier, so it’s going in for an upgrade as soon as he can find the parts he’s after

What does he intend to upgrade to?

He wanted to upgrade trans, tcase for more gearing options so he could crawl better and still Highway, but current timing budget restraints won’t let him, so with his offset rear tcase output and short rear driveshaft, he’s looking at land cruiser diffs, looking like 60 series is the right width for 37’s with less offset to try and keep it narrowish. He’s going to stretch wheelbase enough for 37’s.

Started a new job, doesn’t pay as well but it’s a better spot for me to be, and it’s interesting, building custom golf carts, low speed certified so they can be road legal. Learning cnc milling machine today, normally I assemble the carts, helping with upholstery. We do full custom paint I’m house and hydro dipping.

That actually seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Did having "I build WJs, they're basically fat golf carts" on your resume get you the job? :lmao:

Man good thing he didn’t see my wheeling wj, it’s really hacked for the stuff they build, he asked if I had mechanical aptitude, told him I drive and work on my own Jeeps. Apparently that was enough. I can see my builds getting cleaner though, the attention to detail on these carts is pretty high so I’m sure it’ll rub off.
Today I assembled these seats, didn’t do the upholstery, but it is done in house. Stripped the factory seats and cut and glued the foam for the contour and then stretched and attached the seat cover on them. Then I took the carpet and added the clips that hold the carpet down and cut them into the floor and cut the carpet to hold them. The clips were news and one of my first jobs there. No one had used them and they wouldn’t work as they come, probably would work with carpet and underlay but the heavy rubber floor makes it more difficult. All the custom paint and hydrodipping is done in shop as well.
