Probably the same reason we have a "survival axe" in every helicopter. It's so you've got something to do while you're bored and waiting for rescue, or the weather, or for the customer to show up, or something...

Have had the chainsaw for a year or so. 12a battery goes quick cutting hard wood. I like it.
