Whats everyone using for batteries these days? I've got to build a battery box and move it to the very back so I can mount a back seat for the kids.
I'd like an AGM battery for rollovers, winching while upside down etc.
But everyone HATES on optimas so I'm hesitant to spring for one.
What about odessey? Is it just the same junk? Any other options that are decent these days?
I don't mind spending the money if I'm going to be happy with it.

I just brought in a set of odyssey’s for a buddy’s boat project. Their build quality is definitely above optimas as I was able to get the optional stainless terminals for his as it is a saltwater boat. Plus they have a far bigger line of batteries so you can find something that works that will fit where you want.
All that being said I’ve got no real world feed back on their performance

Im currently running 2- 34/78 interstate batteries and they have been the best Ive ran in awhile. I had old optima's that were great, new ones seem to bring the suck, as I went through 3 of them before switching to a set of 34/78 odesseys. The odesseys weren't great but to be fair they were used and probably at the end of their life when i got them, but just couldn't bring myself to pay $400 a pop for new ones, which is why I swapped to the interstates. My main problem is battery clamps

Where are people buying Odyssey batteries from?
I've been running the Cambodian Tire Motomaster brand AGMs. I think the older ones were better, made by Johnson Controls I think. Not as certain with the newer ones, although I haven't had any problems with them. I did have one I bought that was DOA, and that was a learning experience as CT makes you use the warranty for it (exchanges it with it) rather than just returning it and giving a you a new one through the store. Now I won't buy a new battery without making them load test it first.

Talked to Taylor automotive in Quesnel about sponsorship and they hooked me up with a free 750 cca yellow top optima.
So I geuss that's what I'm going with...
TMR battery box is on order, along with track bar brackets to cut down on the wheel hop.

Burned a simple track bar together and welded it in after work Friday
Also welded my battery box in the rear of the buggy instead of the back seat. All new clamps and cables and a decent night switch. There's nothing worse than having electrical problems in a competition...
I got in touch with the guy that originally built the F-toy in 2003.
It's chassis number 006 from Hendrix Motorsports. And he won the first two we-rock events in it.
He sent me some pics from when they first built it.
Kinda thinking maybe I should have gone with yellow...

Crystal glass cut me a piece of 3mm margaurd for $140. I heated it up and bent a lip on the top and bolted it in.
Should do just fine.
I build new front shackles to tighten up the front end.. forgot to take pics though.
Quick flex test to make sure nothing binds up, some moderate contact here and there but nothing I'm at all worried about at the moment. Seems to articulate pretty alright for leaf springs.
