Had to re-build the front bumper after running into a tree during some stupid late night escapades. Anyways cut the old stuff off and started on the new junk

Fair lead mount. Anybody that has a plasma, I strongly encourage you to get some brand specific stencils made. Every time I use them they save more time. Thanks again HMF

Got it glued on and some new light bar tabs also

In other news. I have tested the trans with the truck on jackstands, it cycled through all the gears and hoping to get out for a shakedown this weekend. I have to clean up the new trans lines and breather, and make a new catch can for it.

I have swapped out my high steer kingpin pusher bolts from the TMR allen pusher style bolt to a standard Grade8 3/4 bolt. Machined the ends flat to better press down on the steel spacer. Reason for the swap was I broke one of the allen bolts in half somehow :homer:

This weekend was a roller coaster of emotions to say the least. On Saturday I planned to take the truck for a shakedown to test out my transmission. Got it all put back together and had it out side warming up. Took it for a small drive down the street to see if it was going to shift. All good. I turn around and start heading back I drop into the small field in front of my place and give it some throttle and proceed to bang through the gears...shifted great, then bang, rattle, shimmy shake..Motor let go, and I coasted right into my drive way :homer:

I felt pretty defeated Saturday night, and basically wrote the race off for my truck. Then Sunday morning a I was talking to my buddy Logan about it and he told me I have no choice but to take his 496 and drop it in. Pointsnorth, myself and Logan got my motor out last night.

Planning to get Logan's truck to town today and start removing his motor

Logan's 496 was dyno'd at 599hp/612ftpd so really looking forward to see how my motor stacks up to it as it was never dyno'd but I feel that it wasn't in the 600hp range. Will be interesting to see anyways

Nice. :eeks:

Do you think it was the piston that let loose first, or did the valve drop into it?

That sucks losing a motor like that, I’m curious as to what happened as well on how it failed. My 4.0 broke a piston but took it like a champ. But I only lost the skirt.

Im betting the piston let loose first. My valve stem is still intact and keeper is still in, so it didnt drop. Just got the shit smashed out of it from the piston

From what appears to be some molten splooge in the exhaust I’m thinking piston. We should of pulled a couple other spark plugs and scoped them in thinking we might have seen some others with damage

The hyperutectic cast pistons are known for being fragile, its usually detonation from our shitty fuel that cracks them. You will see pitting on the other pistons if thats the case. It could have been going lean too better keep an eye on the afr on the new motor

He had issue with the last pump he’s was running I’m wondering if this is the result of that

My AFRs are mint on idle and cruise parameters. Actually way too rich on cold start choke mode. hard to tell on WOT as I’m not really watching the screen haha. Fuel pump issues were 3yrs ago, but who knows, maybe some damage occurred as it would of been lean.
