These Comeup winches look pretty good for the price. I know this is an older thread but these just hit me radar

If I spend any more money on winches it’s going to be faster than my m8000. Good to know about the smittybuilt. To slow for me

there is a eastern European company that is messing with a two speed air shifted gear box for a 8274
first gear is 17% faster then stock
second gear is 50% faster than stock
i would think you would lose pulling power with the higher speed but it may make easier for line retrieval on a longer section where your moving under your own power but most likely toget stuck in the next ten feet

Ya that’s kinda why I like that Comeup winch. It’s fast enough. Simple. 8k is enough winch for me. Bigger rigs and tires especially in the mud it’s not enough. I really want to play with a pto driven god winch like the rainforest challenge guys but they are so sketchy the parent in me doesn’t want to go there

I wonder what the real world numbers are on the Comeup?

Nobody ever got back to me on the Sherpa winches when I asked around about it. Seems they're pretty much totally unknown.

I’d think Comeup would be pretty good as they compete in rainforest challenge and what not so they know what it takes to make a good product. The Sherpa stuff being so unknown makes it hard to trust. Even google search didn’t show much positive towards it. I haven’t actually seen the Comeup stuff though aside from racers in the rain forest challenge that run pretty pricey winches. That 8k comp winch I seem advertised for people going to King off the Hammers and such as a Buggy specific winch.

It’s a bold claim. Whether or not it’s good or accurate is another story. Be nice to see them in action

Yeah, Hornet2 converts to $3200 CAD right now, and the Cobra is $2595 CAD.

That said, it's absurd that Warn wants over $4000 for that winch. :rasta:

There might be a market for somebody to build a budget upgraded Warn clone out of all new parts.

Back to winch shopping

Been looking at the Superwinch Talon series as can get them again now that Westin bought out Superwinch. Just hope the quality is still there as they specs on the Talon line is pretty impressive

both the 9.5 and 12 have a 2 stage gear so have some pretty fast line speeds

62 feet/min at 0 pounds
5 feet/min at 9500lbs

they are more money then a shitybuilt but less then a warn so thinking of pulling the trigger on one

im also interested in a smaller compact winch for my buggy. the 8274 is a beast but its going to take up so much room on my buggy. been trying to find anyone that has run the 8274 in a flat position with success
