Ya. That’s pretty tall gears for a manual trans. I’d definitely go as deep as possible with the 6 speed.

So this happened

Got call from a buddy that he had slid off the painted rock road and needed a winch. Image

Long story short the painted rock road goes thru a old burn and is littered with downed trees. Coming back after the recovery doing 20-30 kmh I went left around a tree fallen down and didn’t see the downed forty footer pointing straight at my drivers tire. I’m not sure if it jammed in the steering or what but next thing I knew I was two wheeling it on the passengers wheels and down over the right hand bank I went

Unfortunately the lone boulder in the ditch is where I landed

Hard top has hole in it and is broken at the b pillar

In the last pic you can also see where the battery burned thru the fender

I was super pissed about it and once we put it back on its wheels I rallied up on the road. And against my better judgement I decided to drive it home cause it didn’t look to have lost a ton of oil not realizing because it had drained into the air box so the motor is dicked

I was going to ask about parts, just the inner vulture scooping things out. That’ll be a great motor for it though. Can’t wait to see it get fixed with that

the 150 hp 2.4 tj motor is the same block as the srt4 just without the upgrades, oil squirters upgraded rods and pistons etc. this is a 05 which was 230hp stock but with the mods I have to do to make it fit in the tj it should make more then that. one documented build I found in a tj they put down a 13.05 on the quarter mile on it first pass with a dicked 904 three speed auto but also a slightly larger turbo on a pt cruiser 2.4 thats detuned to run 87 octane

That sounds like a cool upgrade then. Should be good for snow wheeling.

Unrealistic optimism is what makes these projects happen. Get to it.

There’s enough hope to take a swing. It’ll be cool when it’s done
