good to know as I have a complete running tracker with a 2.0 already. as well as a doubler with a sami case. will see if it needs more power once its together
If and when you do bump it up, I'd recommend grabbing the 2.3 from a '05 and up Aerio, if I understand correctly, they somehow bumped it from 126ish to 155ish HP. I'm gonna have to look into how for myself, cause if its just the tune in the PCM I'd be hooped because auto trans...

Tires are mounted on rims now, but rims won't fit over hubs yet. Fortunately, my free grinding wheel guy had something that should work...

In other news, it is becoming clear that it is extremely beneficial to be friends with as many heavy duty mechanics as possible.

Been busy at work, but my girl is coming out to visit in a couple weeks and would like to go for a rip...so I guess I'd better get back on this.

Had a minor breakthrough as far as street legality. Apparently the neighbor (heavy duty mechanic who also builds mud trucks) will sign off the safety inspection for me. "Is it modified for speed or performance? Nope, looks stock to me. *checkmark*"

Nice.

Well...been putzing outside on the thing whenever I get time, but because I borrow shop space and tools (all mine are at work :headbang: ) not much has been getting done. So much for bombing around this hunting season, but I guess I'd rather do it right than fast...

I have the wiring done to the point it will boot up the computer and crank, but no spark. If I remember correctly, the computer might need an actual tachometer hooked to it. I have a list of wires from Pirate and I got everything but the instrument cluster hooked up cause I figured that wasn't important. :rasta:

In other news, I can guarantee my next project will be most certainly not be fuel injected :headbang:

I'm also trying to decide what I'm doing for a fuel tank. I'm leaning toward finding or making a fuel cell, as that seems like the better of the two simple options (also an excuse to buy the TIG I've been eying up)

Yes, buy a TIG welder. It's life changing. I should have bought one years ago.

I will eventually, I'm saving for it. I'm thinking that's the best option as I can think of one more cell I need off the top of my head.

Also I had fire last night. It didn't run, but I'm alright with that.

I'm still not sure that the motor is good, but that's not important. It's the wiring. Areo donors are everywhere. Fire tells me that the computer is still trying and the wiring is close.

I'm gonna work on putting the body on it next, so I can wire it permanent. Hopefully this is the last time the body comes off until I break something major.

are you using an adapter to bolt the auto up to the 2.3. or will that all bolt together with out one?

The 2.3 block and head are identical from the outside. I pulled a 2.3 from an Aerio and dropped it right in to the tracker. It's plug and play and bolts right up.

To put a 2.3 in a 2.0 application you will need to save:
- 2.0 exhaust manifold
- 2.0 fuel rail (2.3 may work, but the lines are a little different)
- 2.0 intake manifold? (I don't remember exactly if they are the same. I suppose I could go look at the Sami and one of the Aerios in the yard to compare.)

You should be glad I'm trying to sell stuff on Facebook. Believe it or not, I'm here more often than there, so you would have been waiting till Saturday...

This project has been neglected for too long, but available cash for parts is finally there, so body mount bushings are in the mail. While it probably won't be done this summer, hopefully it will be bolted mostly together and move under it's own power.

Bad news is parts are here. I guess that means it's time to get my butt in gear and actually do something productive with my life rather than tear up the Trunk Road every weekend on my bike...it's hard working on a wheeler at home when you can be tearing up the trails on something else...

I've also halfways settled on using a fuel pump from a late 80s F150. Its externally mounted just on a frame rail and high enough pressure and flow for a 302. Plus I can use any fuel tank, I might even be able to get away without a lift pump if I work it right. Also cheap. $33 before shipping from rock auto
