Big day today. Two guys from west Kelowna made the trek to the Shuswap and 3 guys from lumby. Serious Badass rigs. My old tj-6 now on 40” iroks, his buddy on 42” pitbull and a 22re turbo toyota on propane on 42” iroks. A boosted 350 s10 blazer on 44” boggers and a suburban on 42 ish pitbulls with a Cummins, 6.7 block, 5.9 crank and pushing 5000rpm and a 100 pounds of boost. Everyone held their own. My tcase let go again, #3 for the 242 same issue on the front drive gear stripping. Made it home under my own power though.

I asked you before about the 242 thing, but I forget. It strips that drive gear because it doesn't stay engaged? That's the same 242 used in Dodge products of similar years (IE the Ram 1500 truck)?

I think internally they don’t shift well but I’m not sure. I think the gear that slides to engage the front drive doesn’t engage all the way and then it wears a little then over time it gets worse and worse. I’ve got a 231 here and want to swap it. But it’s 1” shorter so I’ll need a longer driveshaft for the rear. The 242 is related to the dodge one and the hummer h2 but those are hd versions more similar to what the v8 wj’s have

Most time when I’m pulling a tcase apart for a shifting problem I find the shift fork has lost the plastic pieces that the shift ring is supposed to ride on and has gacked the fork. Most times they are down by the pump intake in perfect condition

Sounded like active logging in the block we were in, full on skidder driving around. For 8k pounds though in the snow it sure got down. Everyone was really capable with their rigs and in the deep snow mixed with great snow conditions made it awesome. 5-6 feet of packed hero snow meant we were above the stumps and small trees leaving endless lines.

It was funny off the start, you could see the worry on everyone’s face when the little Mitsubishi jeep showed up. By the end of the day everyone was seriously surprised. The first climb he was breaking trail at an idle and moved over once he spun out. Leyton in the turbo toyota on 42” iroks made it only a few feet past him before spinning out. I tried a pass in the ditch and didn’t make it any further. Keeping in mind the smallest tires the visitors had were 40” iroks and 33’s are kinda small, even my 37’s were lacking in size. Everyone did really well though

He’s light, probably the lightest but not actually what I would call light. That diesel if his is a 500 pound extra, he’s 3500 pounds wet weight ready to wheel. It’s well balanced though, the tires work well and he can drive it. He leaves absolutely nothing on the table
